It is with great sadness that I have to report the sudden passing of Mr Sagestine Gandi on 5th March in Kenema, Sierra Leone.
Gandi was leading our programme work of CARD (Community Action for Rural Development) from Kenema District. CARD are a key partner of APT’s who we have worked with for many years; Gandi was the lead of a current EU funded project in Sierra Leone building the capacity of organisations in support of women’s livelihoods.
This is tragic news and I am personally deeply saddened. Mr Sagestine Gandi was a great man who worked tirelessly for the most vulnerable people in Sierra Leone. Despite the challenges he faced, he always managed to remain optimistic and work for a better future. He never shied away from things that were difficult, and always wanted to reach out and help others. He was a diligent and compassionate man and a great role model for others. We, and all who knew him, will all think of him with admiration and respect.
He will be missed by all of us here in the UK very much and on behalf of all APT’s staff, Trustees and supporters we send the deepest sympathy to his family and friends in their grief.
May he rest in peace.
