About Carol

Carol Sherman has over 35 years of experience as a senior director working for international non-government organizations. She has been a regional/Country Director for large scale programs and operations in complex emergencies and low-income countries. Her experiences have been mostly located at the Country Office for organizations such as Care and Plan International, across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, the Pacific and the Balkans.
Having stepped back from full-time work, Carol now works as a development consultant and as a Trustee with smaller NGOs in Africa. Excited about how Action on Poverty reaches out to so many vulnerable communities through working with local partners and helping to build on new and existing capabilities, she brings both programmatic and strategic vision along with the accountability needed as a Trustee.
